The CLU Dance Team started over fifteen years ago with just a few young women who had a dream of building up the art and sport of dance at CLU. They started off by coming together a couple days a week to choreograph routines that they would perform at football and basketball half times. Today, the CLU Dance Team continues to grow and thrive as an integral part of our campus, competing at sports games, campus events, and national competitions.
2023: The Dance Team competed in both 4-Year College Division I/II/III Jazz and Hip-Hop categories at the USA College Championships in Anaheim, CA. The Team placed 3rd for their Jazz routine and 7th for their Hip-Hop routine (1st overall in DIII Hip-Hop)!!
2022: The Dance Team competed in both 4-Year College Division I/II/III Jazz and Hip-Hop categories at the USA College Championships in Anaheim, CA. The Team placed 3rd for their Jazz routine and 5th for their Hip-Hop routine (1st overall in DIII Hip-Hop)!!
2021: Due to COVID the Dance Team was unfortunately unable to compete.
2020: The Dance Team competed in both 4-Year College Division II/III Jazz and Hip-Hop categories at the USA College Championships in Anaheim, CA. The Team placed 3rd for their Jazz routine and 4th for their Hip-Hop routine!
2019: The Dance Team competed in both the 4-Year College Division II/III Jazz and 4-Year College Hip-Hop categories at the USA College Championships in Anaheim, CA. The team placed second in the jazz category, a huge achievement that had never been reached by the team for this category!
2018: The Dance Team competed at the USA Collegiate Championships in Anaheim, CA in the Division II/III Hip Hop and Open categories. The team placed 2nd in the Hip Hop category and 3rd in the Open category! Placing in both categories has never been done before in CLU Dance Team history and doing so well in each is a huge accomplishment as well.
2017: The Dance Team competed a hip hop routine against Division II and III schools at the USA Collegiate Championships in Anaheim, California.
2016: The Dance Team returned to the USA Collegiate Championships, competing a contemporary and a hip hop routine. The team placed 2nd for their hip hop routine, a first in Dance Team history.
2015: The Dance Team competed a jazz routine against Division II and III schools at the USA Collegiate Championships in Anaheim, California.
2014: The girls revisited the USA National Collegiate Finals in Anaheim, California, and competed in both jazz and hip-hop. At the MOVE Regional Competition in Upland, California, Dance Team received Platinum for both hip-hop and jazz, as well as a 1st place award for their Jazz routine.
2013: CLU Dance Team competed again at the USA National Collegiate Finals in Anaheim, California. The girls placed 3rd for their jazz routine, "Diamonds," an amazing accomplishment! At the StarQuest International Performing Arts Competition, the Dance Team received High Gold for both hip-hop and jazz.
2012: The Dance Team switched gears and competed at the USA National Collegiate Competition in Anaheim, California. The girls placed 4th overall for their artistic jazz routine in their division.
2010 and 2011: The Dance Team competed again in Florida at UDA.
2009: The Dance Team achieved 6th place with their hip-hop routine at the UDA Finals.
2006-2007: The girls place 13th at the UDA Collegiate Championship Finals. By January 2007, the Dance Team ranked superior in both Hip-Hop and Jazz. Every year after that the Team has significantly improved their scores at Nationals.
2004-2005: The CLU Dance Team had grown immensely to eleven girls all with a dream to compete. All year they worked hard through fundraising to make it to Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the National Collegiate NDA Competition in January 2005. The Dance Team competed against other schools in the NCAA Division III as well as Division II. The Team placed sixth during the preliminary finals.
With each coming year, the CLU Dance Team continues to work and grow to reach their absolute highest potential. Thank you to everyone for the amazing support that keeps the team going!
